The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) creates a unique opportunity for students to engage in the policy-making process and gain a better understanding of how Congress works. The YAC is a non-partisan program designed to foster commitment to civic engagement and public service among high school and college students that live or attend school in California’s 34th
Congressional District. Comprised of students selected by my office, YAC enriches students’ experience by:
- Discussing key policy topics
- Volunteering at community events
- Receiving professional development and training
- Learning from guest speakers with backgrounds in government, nonprofit, corporate, and labor sectors

One-page essay explaining why you wish to be a member of the Council

If selected, your term would be for one year with the option of reapplying if you are not an incoming senior.
Students must be able to attend four of the six meetings to remain in good standing. Meetings will take place once a month from October through April. Dates will be announced at a later date.
