The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) creates a unique opportunity for students to engage in the policy-making process and gain a better understanding of how Congress works. The YAC is a non-partisan program designed to foster commitment to civic engagement and public service among high school and college students that live or attend school in California’s 34th Congressional District. Comprised of students selected by my office, YAC enriches students’ experience by:
  • Discussing key policy topics
  • Volunteering at community events
  • Receiving professional development and training
  • Learning from guest speakers with backgrounds in government, nonprofit, corporate, and labor sectors

Please follow the application instructions. To apply for this year's Youth Advisory Council, please e-mail the following documents to Rolando Chavez in one PDF message or deliver the documents in-person to 350 South Bixel Street, #120, Los Angeles, CA 90017 by September 20.
