Called Out Republicans for Ignoring the Affordability Crisis

Since Trump took office, life has gotten more expensive. Groceries, rent, and even holiday essentials now cost more. Trump’s tariffs are pushing prices higher, and squeezing families who were already stretched thin.

I know that squeeze firsthand. I grew up watching my parents work multiple jobs just to keep food on the table. When prices rise, there is no cushion. You cut back, you fall behind, or you do both.

That’s why it’s infuriating to hear Trump deny there’s an affordability crisis, and to watch Republicans defend tariff policies that are clearly making it worse. At a recent Ways and Means Committee hearing, I called them out, because working families don’t get to ignore higher prices.

Democrats are ready to lower costs by pulling back Trump’s tariffs. I will keep holding Republicans accountable, because families deserve leaders who see what’s happening and act.

This holiday season, gift prices are up 26% from last year. Trump’s reckless tariffs are driving up the cost of everything families need to celebrate, from presents and decorations, to wrapping paper and basic essentials.

That’s why I brought together members of the Dads Caucus, the Groundwork Collaborative, and small business owner Sarah Wells to hear directly from families and small businesses feeling the squeeze and to talk real solutions.

Republicans tell families to lower their expectations. We are taking on the policies that raise prices and building an economy that gives families room to breathe.

Exposed Republicans' Non-existent Healthcare Agenda

Families across America are already feeling the consequences of Republican healthcare decisions... not in theory, not down the road, but right now. Health insurance premiums have skyrocketed as Republicans let enhanced ACA subsidies expire, leaving millions of families paying more for the same coverage.

At the same time, Republicans passed their so-called “big beautiful” bill that slashed nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid and $200 billion from SNAP, all to deliver massive tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans.

No amount of spin or press conferences can change the reality: they made a clear choice to raise costs for working families and put healthcare and food security at risk so billionaires could pay less.
