Delivered New Computers for Seniors at Angelus Plaza

Angelus Plaza

During a recent visit to Angeles Plaza to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, residents told me their computer lab had outdated, broken computers, some dating back to the 1990s.

My team and I donated new computers to help residents connect with loved ones, check their email, and read the news.

As the Trump administration attacks vital programs like Medicaid and SNAP, our seniors face growing uncertainty. I’ll keep showing up, listening to their concerns, and helping meet their needs.

Marched from Adelanto for those who Died in ICE Custody

Adelanto March

Earlier this week, I joined in an interfaith pilgrimage to protest against the terrible conditions in the Adelanto ICE Detention Center. In 2025 alone, more than 30 people have died in ICE custody, the highest number of annual deaths in 20 years.

We have witnessed the deaths of many, both in ICE custody and in the streets at the hands of Trump's rogue agents. It's well past time for this to end.

As the son of Mexican immigrants, this is personal for me. I won’t stop fighting until these abuses end, and those responsible are held accountable.

Standing with the Franklin High School Community

Franklin High School

On Thursday, I visited Franklin High School in Highland Park to bring flowers and mourn the student who lost their life on campus Wednesday.

Franklin High is close to my home. This hurts, and there’s no other way to say it. I came as a dad and a member of this community. My heart is with the student’s family, classmates, teachers, and everyone grieving this devastating loss.

The trauma can last for weeks or months, even for those who don’t yet realize how deeply they’ve been affected. We are one community, and when something like this happens, we all feel it deeply.

Expanding Clinica Romero’s Space to Serve Our Community

Clinica Romero

This week, I met with Carlos Vaquero, President and CEO of Clinica Romero, who showed me their newly renovated building in MacArthur Park/Pico Union. I secured $1 million in federal funding to help create new administrative offices and community conference space, giving their team more room to serve our neighbors.

Access to health care starts with knowing where to turn. Clinica Romero’s Promotoras help residents understand what services are available and connect them with care. I’m proud to support their work and help more families get the care they need.

Sincerely,
