Dear friend,

It’s no secret Congress has, year after year, failed to address the plight of DREAMers. These undocumented men and women came to our nation at a young age, and many DREAMers were so young when they arrived that they don't know any home but the United States.

If you know a DREAMer, you know they are just as American as you and I — in every way except on paper. President Obama understood this, which is why in 2012, he implemented the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) policy. DACA allowed over half a million young DREAMers to come out of the shadows to apply for ID’s, get jobs, pay taxes, serve in the military, go to school, and become contributing members of our society.

DACA has been an immensely successful program, and it has withstood multiple attempts by the Trump administration to dismantle it. However, DACA is not the permanent solution that DREAMers deserve. That’s why I’m working in Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform that will finally give DREAMers a pathway to citizenship, while also protecting the core values that have underpinned our immigration system for decades, such as family reunification.

Stay updated on my fight to reform our immigration system by signing up for updates from my office.

Sincerely,

U.S. Congressman Jimmy Gomez
