Week In Review

Dear Neighbor,

From downtown rallies to ICE oversight, I’ve been on the ground standing up for our immigrant families, protecting health care access, and pushing back against Trump’s chaos.

Here’s a quick recap of my work this week:

  • No Kings Rally in DTLA
  • Blocked (Again) at ICE Facility
  • Community Roundtable on ICE Raids
  • Fighting the Republican Plan to Cut Medi-Cal
  • Hosting a Tele Town Hall with 4,533 Angelenos

Speaking up at the No Kings Rally in DTLA

play button

I stood with working families in downtown LA to say loud and clear that this country doesn’t belong to kings or dictators —it belongs to we, the people. From the civil rights era to the immigrant rights movement, our power comes from unity, peaceful resistance, and our belief in a country that works for all of us.

Attempt #3: Demanding Entry into ICE Facility for Oversight

play button

For the third time, DHS illegally blocked my oversight visit to the ICE facility at the Roybal Federal Building. They claim it’s not a detention center—but if people can’t leave, they’re being detained. The Trump admin is breaking the law by denying me entry to this facility. But I won’t stop until we get transparency and justice for these moms and kids.

Community Roundtable on ICE Raids

Rep Gomez with Immigration Leaders

Rep. Gomez with the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), Central American Resource Center (CARECEN), former Secretary of Housing Julian Castro, local labor leaders, and civil rights organizations.

I brought together CHIRLA, CARACEN, labor unions, and civil rights groups to talk about the impact of Trump’s crackdown. These raids aren’t just bad — they’re illegal and economically harmful. We're organizing to protect our rights and our neighbors.

Fighting the Republican Plan to Cut Medi-Cal

Nurses

Rep. Gomez with frontline UNAC/UHCP nurses.

Alongside Rep. Derek Tran (CA-45) and frontline nurses, I spoke out against Republican plans to cut Medi-Cal for 425,000 people in our district. Their Big Billionaire Bill would rip away care from kids, seniors, and people with disabilities—all to give billionaires more tax breaks. I'll do all I can to stop it when this bill comes back to the House.

Hosting A Tele Town Hall with 4,533 Angelenos

Tele Town Hall

This week I hosted a Tele Town Hall, where thousands of you joined to speak out against what’s happening in LA. From lawless ICE raids to protecting Medicaid and Social Security, we discussed how we’re fighting back and standing up for our working families. We might not agree on everything, but one thing’s clear: we must stop Trump and the billionaire establishment taking root in DC.
