Called Out Trump’s Military Operation for Oil in Venezuela

Venezuela

I called out the Trump administration for its military operation for oil in Venezuela and for committing to run a foreign country instead of prioritizing the needs of the American people.

Once again, Republicans who claim to be the “America First” party are wasting billions of taxpayer dollars on endless wars, while families across the country struggle to afford groceries, healthcare, and rent.

People are angry. I am angry. And we have every right to be. We, the American people, deserve transparency, accountability, and a government that is focused on improving lives here in our communities, not starting another endless war abroad.

Voted to Extend ACA Healthcare Subsidies for Millions of Families

ACA 2

Last month, Republicans let the ACA enhanced tax credits expire. Now, hardworking families across Los Angeles are staring down sky-high premiums or losing access to affordable healthcare.

This issue hits close to home for me. I grew up in a working-class family where my parents took on multiple jobs just to get by. We did not have health insurance. When I was seven years old, I came down with pneumonia and spent weeks in the hospital. The medical bills nearly destroyed my family financially. No family should ever have to choose between getting their child medical care and going into lifelong debt.

That’s why this week, House Democrats and I forced a vote and passed legislation that would expand the ACA tax credits and protect millions of Americans’ healthcare. However, a majority of House Republicans would rather let hardworking families lose health insurance than disobey Donald Trump. The ACA tax credits keep people insured, safe, and healthy. Now that the House has passed an extension, the Senate must step up to protect Americans’ access to affordable healthcare.

Condemned Trump's Dangerous ICE & CBP For Killing a U.S Citizen

Manu Raju

This week, Trump’s dangerous and unaccountable ICE and CBP crackdowns killed Renee Nicole Good, a mother of three, a wife, a friend, a neighbor, and a U.S. citizen. She tried to let ICE agents go ahead of her and had her car tires pointed away from them, but they shot her anyway.

I have been sounding the alarm about ICE and Trump’s immigration crackdown since early last year, when the raids began in Los Angeles. Now our worst fear is real. This shooting must be fully and independently investigated, and ICE must be held accountable. Yet, JD Vance went on national television to claim ICE has absolute immunity. Rushing to defend an agent before the facts are known isn’t leadership, it’s a cover-up, and our communities deserve the truth.

This violence is not isolated to one city or one moment. It is spreading, and it will only get worse as more agents are rushed into ICE and CBP operations under Donald Trump and Kristi Noem.

Sincerely,
