Dear friend,

I have great news to share with you: In addition to returning to the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, I’ll also be serving on the prestigious House Committee on Ways and Means.

Among the most powerful committees in the House of Representatives, the Committee on Ways and Means is the chief tax-writing body of the United States Congress. It also oversees social safety net programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

On this committee, I'll be able to help:

Protect and expand social safety net programs like Social Security and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Repeal the President's tax plan which I
believe gives corporations and the wealthy another massive tax break.

Obtain and investigate President Donald Trump's tax returns.

Promote policies that reinforce a clean, equitable, green economy.

The road ahead won’t be easy, but together – with your ongoing support and engagement – I have no doubt we’ll be able to help the most vulnerable Americans among us and finally hold this administration accountable to the people.

In the meantime, I'll be holding my first town hall of the year on Saturday, February 9, 2018 at the Ramona Hall Community Center. You'll have the opportunity to ask me about issues that are important to you, get updates on my policy efforts, and hear about upcoming events. If you are interested in attending, please make sure to RSVP as seating is limited.

Sincerely,

Congressman Jimmy Gomez
