Fighting for Accountability after the Lineage Logistics Fire

I took to the House floor to demand answers and accountability for the Lineage Logistics fire in Boyle Heights.

What began as a warehouse fire has become a public health emergency affecting families across Los Angeles. Neighbors can't safely go outside, open their windows, or feel confident about the air they're breathing.

Our community deserves answers. That's why I called for expanded air quality testing, soil testing, ongoing public health monitoring, and accountability for what happened.

For too long, working-class communities and communities of color have been forced to bear the burden of industrial pollution while corporations walk away from the consequences. I'll continue using my position in Congress to push for accountability and make sure every affected family receives the answers, resources, and support they deserve.

Delivering Resources to Families in Boyle Heights and East LA

While I fought in Washington for our community, my district team has been on the ground helping families affected by the Lineage Logistics fire.

Over the past week, Team Gomez has distributed air purifiers, masks, food, and other essential supplies to residents and small businesses impacted by the smoke.

We're also working closely with local elected officials, community organizations, emergency responders, and relief partners to connect families with available resources and make sure our community has the latest information.

This recovery effort is far from over. My office will continue showing up, helping residents access assistance, and advocating for every resource our community needs.

This week, the Supreme Court cleared the way for the Trump Administration to end Temporary Protected Status for Haitian and Syrian immigrants. The message is clear: Trump is taking legal status away from immigrants who already have it.

These are our neighbors who followed the law, built lives here, work hard, pay taxes, and contribute to our communities every day. Now every TPS holder is wondering: am I next?

As the son of immigrant parents, I know what America means to families seeking safety, opportunity, and a better future for their children. No family that has played by the rules should have to live in fear that everything they've built can disappear overnight.

I'll keep fighting to protect immigrant families and push back against efforts to strip away legal protections from people who have strengthened our communities and call this country home.
