Announced $149 Million in FEDERAL Funding for LA's Busiest Bus Corridor

This week, I announced $149.9 million in new federal funding for Metro’s Vermont Avenue Bus Rapid Transit Project, a major investment that will deliver faster, more reliable bus service along Los Angeles County’s busiest bus corridor.

Once operational, this project is expected to cut travel times by 24%, create thousands of jobs, and serve more than 66,200 riders every day, making it the highest-ridership Bus Rapid Transit line in the United States.

This is exactly the kind of federal investment we should be making to improve transportation, create jobs, and make it easier for Angelenos to get where they need to go.

I will continue working to bring federal resources back to Los Angeles and deliver the infrastructure investments our communities need.

Visited Northeast LA Head Start Students and Educators, as Trump Attacks Head Start

I visited Options for Learning in Northeast Los Angeles to see firsthand how early education programs are helping working families access safe, reliable child care while giving children a strong foundation to learn and grow.

For decades, Head Start has helped millions of children and families get a stronger start in life by providing early education and support to families who need it most. But now, the Trump Administration is trying to undermine that progress. At a time when families are already struggling with the high cost of child care, we should be making these programs stronger and more accessible, not putting them at risk.

That is why I am fighting to protect Head Start and the families who depend on it. Parents deserve to know that their children have a safe, reliable place to learn and grow while they work, and every child deserves the opportunity to get a strong start in life.

We’re not going to let the Trump Administration take this lifeline away from working families.

Slammed Trump for Skyrocketing Inflation

For too many families in Los Angeles, the cost of everyday life keeps going up. Mortgages cost more. Loans cost more. Groceries, gas, and other everyday goods cost more. Families are working hard, but their paychecks aren’t going as far as they used to.

It’s not just in your head. Inflation is still running at 3.7% for basic goods across the economy, and families are feeling the squeeze. Donald Trump was elected on a promise to lower costs, but he’s done the exact opposite.

He started a trade war with our closest trading partners, driving up the cost of goods Americans rely on every day. Then he started a war of choice with Iran, helping drive up gas prices and putting even more pressure on working families.

At a time when families are already struggling to make ends meet, we should be doing everything we can to bring costs down. Instead, this administration is putting corporate profits ahead of the pocketbooks of working Americans.

I’m going to keep speaking up about what families are facing and fighting for an economy that puts working people first, not corporations, and makes it easier for families to get ahead.
