As the representative of Los Angeles's Koreatown, the largest Korean American community in the U.S., I know very well that the Korean American story is one of honor, inspiration, and resolve. And I’m reminded of your hard work and resilience every day. In this new Congress, I’m excited to continue working together to address the challenges facing our families and ensure the American Dream is within reach for everyone.
Building on Progress Together
Since I was first elected to Congress, I’ve been working to uplift the Korean American community in Los Angeles and across the country, including by:
- Passing legislation to rename Koreatown’s post office after Dosan Ahn Chang Ho—a pioneer in the Korean independence movement.
- Securing $7 million in funding for the creation of the first ever Korean American National Museum, currently being built right here in Los Angeles.
- Supporting our veteran heroes by making sure the Korean soldiers who served alongside Americans in the Vietnam War receive the veterans' benefits they’ve earned.
Honoring a Shared History and Looking Ahead
While the work we have done is great, it is far from over. I plan to build on these accomplishments, and I’ll keep seeking your feedback as I push Congress to expand resources for Korean American families, small businesses, health care, education, and preserving Korean American history. Thank you for allowing me to represent you in Congress.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Gomez
Member of Congress
