Wow! That was a busy August Recess!

I met with friends and neighbors from across the district to hear about their concerns, opinions and to answer policy questions.

Thank you to everyone who came out!

Listening to Your Concerns

Rep. Jimmy Gomez announces his Youth Advisory Council at his town hall in Lincoln Heights.

I hosted another town hall at the Lincoln Heights Senior Center where I announced the creation of my Youth Advisory Council – a nonpartisan student council designed to help students become better community leaders.

#DoSomething

I joined House Democrats in a letter calling on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to do something to help end gun violence – more specifically, to vote on bills we have passed to keep our communities safe.

Rep. Stephanie Murphy visited me in Los Angeles and we talked about why gun violence is personal for her. Watch our conversation.

Addressing Homelessness

Rep. Jimmy Gomez meets with homelessness advocates to discuss solutions to end homelessness.

Finding effective solutions to the homelessness crisis requires an all-hands-on-deck approach.

We need substantive conversations about what’s working and what isn’t. Between my Homelessness Roundtable in Skid Row and participating in Rep. Maxine Waters’ homelessness field hearingI worked with local and national partners to examine the causes of homelessness and solutions for how we can help end it.

Your Stories Matter

Rep. Jimmy Gomez and Rep. Stephanie Murphy talk with TPS recipients at CARECEN about their efforts to protect their immigration status.

Our personal stories are our greatest assets.

Being a son of immigrants, I understand the importance our stories have in our mission to protect those who seek what our families sought.

I visited CARECEN in Koreatown to share my story and join in the fight to protect TPS recipients.

Welcome to CA-34, Warner Music Group!

Rep. Jimmy Gomez and Rep. Stephanie Murphy tour Warner Music Group's new Arts District location, which has brought new business development and entertainment jobs to CA-34.

I visited the Old Ford Building in the Arts District to see Warner Music Group’s new offices.

Warner Music relocated to the Arts District earlier this year bringing more jobs to Los Angeles to create today’s biggest hits.

Fighting for Working Families

Rep. Jimmy Gomez talks with paid family leave advocates about the work he's doing on the Ways and Means Committee to pass a national paid family leave law.

I don’t want families to have to go through the same experiences my family and I went through. That is why I have championed equitable paid family leave policies since my days in the California Assembly.

As we work on developing a national policy, I joined the California Work and Family Coalition at their quarterly meeting in Koreatown to listen to what would make an effective – and equitable – national paid family leave policy for all working families.

Let's KCON!

Rep. Gomez works with Los Angeles’ Korean American community to make sure they are heard when it comes to health care, immigration, and the Korean Peninsula.

This year, KCON took place in CA-34 – home to the largest Korean American community in the nation!

KCON celebrates more than Korean culture, music, food, and trends – it builds bridges between communities.

Good Music and Neighbors in Eagle Rock

Rep. Jimmy Gomez talks with constituents about how his office can help them navigate federal agencies.

What more could you ask for on a summer night?

Between the busy work period, I was still able to find time to slip away and enjoy good music in the company of neighbors at Eagle Rock’s summer Concerts in the Park.

Senior Scam Stopper

Rep. Jimmy Gomez talks with constituents in Little Tokyo about how to avoid becoming victims of fraud.

More seniors are becoming targets of fraudulent activities.

Because of this, my office hosted another Senior Scam Stopper in Little Tokyo with speakers from Social Security, USCIS, and the IRS helping seniors understand and recognize signs of fraud in their mail, emails, and phone calls.
