Voted to End Trump’s War of Choice with Iran

This week, I voted YES on the Iran War Powers Resolution.

This is a war of choice disguised as a war of necessity. In just a few days, President Trump offered a shifting list of justifications: regime change, retribution, helping protesters, and stopping Iran’s nuclear and missile programs. Just last year, he claimed Iran’s nuclear program had been “obliterated,” and the Department of Defense says Iran’s ballistic missiles will not be capable of reaching the United States until 2035.

Then Secretary of State Marco Rubio offered another justification: striking first in case Iran might retaliate after a possible Israeli attack. Not because Iran posed an imminent threat. Not because Congress authorized war. But because someone else might attack.

Americans deserve answers to two basic questions: why are we doing this, and how does it end?

The Constitution is clear. A president cannot start a war alone. Congress must be involved because once troops are in harm’s way, missions expand and working families receive the knock on the door that changes their lives forever.

The cost of war is measured not just in dollars, but in lives lost, bodies broken, and conflicts that rarely stay confined to where they begin.

Called Out Trump for Lying to Americans About Iran

Hours after President Trump launched his attack on Iran, I joined MSNOW to call out this reckless war, one that was never authorized by Congress and has already resulted in the deaths of six U.S. service members.

Even now, Trump and his own administration cannot clearly explain why we are going to war. Their justifications keep shifting.

If the case for this war were real, the President should present the evidence. Instead, the American people have been given a rotating list of reasons while our troops are being put in harm’s way without transparency or accountability.

The Constitution is clear: presidents do not get to start wars on their own or control the intelligence used to justify them. Decisions this consequential must involve Congress and the American people.

Live Reacted to Trump Firing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem

On Thursday, in the middle of a recorded conversation with Congressman Brad Schneider, I was informed that Donald Trump had just fired DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and plans to replace her with Senator Markwayne Mullin.

Frankly, Noem should have been removed long ago. But replacing her with Senator Mullin, a man who has said children born in the United States should be deported with their parents, may be the worst possible choice to lead the Department of Homeland Security.

The reality is that no matter who Trump installs at DHS, the agenda remains the same: families torn apart, agents operating with little accountability in our communities, and a complete disregard for the rule of law.

If we want to stop Trump’s deportation machine, we have to start at the source by cutting off the $175 billion slush fund he pushed through in his “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

A new name on the office door doesn’t change the agenda.
