I grew up without health insurance, so I know how hard it can be to get the care you need. That’s why I believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and why I’m committed to making sure everyone, no matter their background or income, can access quality, affordable healthcare.

Medicare for All

I am proud to have authored the Chose Medicare Act (H.R. 3911), which would create a Part E public health plan, giving people more affordable healthcare insurance options --- especially those who don’t qualify for traditional Medicare or Medicaid, or who find private insurance too expensive. It would help lower costs, reduce paperwork, and increase competition in the insurance market, so more families can get the care they need without worrying about high premiums or surprise medical bills. I co-sponsored the Medicare for All Act (H.R. 3514) to establish a national, improved Medicare-for-All program that guarantees healthcare as a right for all Americans. I also support the Health Care Affordability Act of 2025 (H.R. 247). This bill expands eligibility for the refundable credit for coverage under a qualified health plan, making healthcare more accessible.

Women’s Health

I believe in protecting every person’s right to make their own decisions about pregnancy. Abortion is healthcare. That’s why I support the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2025 (H.R.12), which safeguards an individual’s ability to choose whether to continue or end a pregnancy without interference. This bill also ensures that healthcare providers can offer abortion services without fear of legal or political retaliation. Protecting reproductive freedom is essential to health and autonomy. The My Body, My Data Act of 2025 (H.R. 3916), which I am a sponsor of, aims to protect the privacy of personal reproductive and sexual health information. This bill sets important protections to keep information confidential and secure.

Family Care

I am a co-sponsor of the Health Equity and Access under the Law for Immigrant Families Act of 2025 (H.R. 4104), which expands access to health insurance coverage for immigrants and their families by removing legal and policy barriers to health insurance coverage. As the chair of the Dad’s Caucus, I am also fighting for lower prescription drug prices, expanded paid family leave, and investing in childcare programs that help working families thrive --- because healthcare is about more than hospitals. I am the original sponsor of the Baby Clothing Tax Relief Act (H.R. 4666) and co-sponsor of Baby Hygiene Tax Relief Act (H.R. 4674) which relieves taxes on essential family products.
