Washington, D.C. – In response to the House passage of H.R. 6 – the Dream and Promise Act – Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) released the following statement: “Today’s historic passage of the Dream and Promise Act in the House represents an opportunity for all of us to reaffirm what I’ve always known to be true: We still live in a country where the son of Mexican immigrants, brother to a sister who shed tears of joy after being granted citizenship, and representative of one of the most culturally rich districts in the United States can proudly vote to protect the promise of America for thousands of DREAMers and TPS recipients in our communities. “I’d like to thank every constituent and local community group who visited my Washington and Los Angeles offices, called and emailed my staff, and worked with our policy experts to make today’s dream a reality.” ### |
