Congressman Jimmy Gomez Appointed Vice Chair of Committee on Oversight and Reform

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) announced his appointment to once again serve as Vice Chair of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, the main investigative body of the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Serving as Vice Chair of the Committee on Oversight and Reform during the 116th Congress has been an incredible honor, and I humbly accept the support of my colleagues in being elected Vice Chair in this new legislative session,” said Congressman Gomez. “Since the passing of our late Chairman Elijah Cummings, I’ve worked closely with Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney to hold the Trump administration accountable and deliver results for the American people, including fighting to protect the integrity of the 2020 Census, uncovering Trump’s sabotage of the U.S. Postal Service, and more. Now that the Biden-Harris administration is underway, I look forward to leveraging our oversight capacity to address the transgressions of the previous administration and continue working to protect our country’s democratic institutions in 2021 and beyond.”

Congressman Gomez was appointed Vice Chair of the Committee on Oversight and Reform in December 2019.

Congressman Gomez will also continue to serve on the House Committee on Ways and Means.
