WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Congressman Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) released the following statement after voting NO on House Republicans’ sham impeachment inquiry that is based on zero evidence: “I’ve served on many iterations of the Oversight Committee and this sham impeachment inquiry is by far the lowest Republicans on this committee have gone. Chairman Comer is doing the bidding of Marjorie Taylor Greene and the radical right with this political theater. This impeachment inquiry is not about following the evidence—because there is none—it is about political payback and reelecting Donald Trump. Republicans are chipping away our democratic institutions and, with each conspiracy, they treat our highest body of government as a joke. It’s time for House Republicans to stop playing games and join Democrats to actually get some real work done on behalf of our communities.” ### |
