Rep. Gomez Secures Over $11 Million for 15 Los Angeles Community Projects

WASHINGTON, D.C.Representative Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) secured $11,184,031 in federal funding for 15 Los Angeles community projects in the government funding packages that passed the House today. The community projects respond directly to some of the most pressing needs in Los Angeles, including affordable housing projects, education hubs, recreation centers and green spaces.

“I came to Washington to champion the needs of Angelenos and ensure our taxpayer dollars are felt and seen in our community—I’m proud to bring home $11 million in additional funding to do that today. Among other things, this funding will kickstart investments in affordable housing, accessible green spaces, education programs, arts and culture, and recreation opportunities that will make our city a better place to live,” said Gomez. “I look forward to seeing these projects break ground and the positive impact they will have on our community.”

This legislation will now be sent to the Senate and is expected to be signed into law by President Biden later this week. A detailed summary of the bill is available here.

House Democrats were successful in removing harmful, extreme House Republican policies from these bills that attempted to make abortion illegal everywhere, slash efforts to fight climate change and threaten national security. Instead, these final bipartisan 2024 funding bills will help keep communities safe, fight rising costs and boost the economy. Taken together, the funding for California’s 34th District and the funding increases for critical government programs will continue to grow our local economy and support our communities.
