WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Representative Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) was officially sworn in to serve California’s 34th Congressional District in the 119th Congress. He was joined by his wife Mary Hodge, and his toddler-aged son Hodge.

“My community sent me to Congress to fight for working families and stand up to the billionaire establishment,” said Rep. Jimmy Gomez. “As the Chairman of the Dads Caucus and the Renters Caucus, I’ll keep pushing Congress to make investments to build housing that’s affordable, defend renters’ rights, and pass family friendly policies.

“And let me be clear: I’ll fight to stop any efforts that hurt communities in my district—such as tax breaks for billionaires like Elon Musk, targeting hardworking immigrant families, and slashing health care and Social Security benefits that our families have earned.”

California’s 34th Congressional district is home to a vibrant and diverse community in Los Angeles, California. In the 118th Congress, Congressman Gomez sat on the powerful House Committee on Ways and Means and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He served as an Assistant Whip of the Democratic Caucus and Deputy Whip for the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC). Congressman Gomez is the Founder and Chair of the Congressional Dads Caucus and Congressional Renters Caucus. He is also a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), and Future Forum.
