Los Angeles is driven by small businesses and entrepreneurs, from street food vendors to content creators. Our community in Los Angeles, in particular, serves as a global hub for entertainment due to its deep roots in media and rich history as home to a thriving, diverse community of creative talent.

Small businesses face unique challenges, and as your Representative, I'm committed to leveraging federal resources to help our businesses and community grow.

I am strong advocate for increasing federal appropriations to the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund, which provides lenders with affordable credit and capital for small businesses in our community. In addition, I'll defend the Minority Business Development Agency, which helps new entrepreneurs develop their business knowhow so that they can succeed and get ahead.

The emerging creator economy is a rising industry driven by digital entrepreneurs who actively shape culture and influence public opinion and consumer trends across key sectors such as tourism, fashion, lifestyle, fitness, and technology. As independent business owners, they face many of the same challenges as traditional small businesses, along with hurdles unique to the content creation industry. That is why I wrote to the Small Business Administration (SBA) to urge them support this fast-growing industry by providing services and programs that will help content creator small businesses continue to thrive and contribute to our economy.

Whether it is casework assistance with the SBA or helping maintain a strong workforce to help meet the needs of small businesses through the Federal Job Corps, I'll never stop fighting to ensure our community has the resources needed for our local economy to grow.
