It is disgusting to see that any Member of this body would throw their constituents under the bus as they vote to devastate our economy and make working class families worse off.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jimmy Gomez (D – Los Angeles) issued the following statement after voting against the conference report to accompany H.R. 1, the Republican tax bill. “The passage of the Republican tax plan proves that the GOP is only motivated by the demands of their donors and not their constituents. This deeply flawed plan only benefits the wealthy and corporations while unfairly raising taxes on the poor, the middle class, and seniors. The supposed budget hawks in the Republican party have suddenly gone quiet as they add $1.5 trillion to the debt just so they can crow about the need to cut Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and other crucial programs next year. It is disgusting to see that any Member of this body would throw their constituents under the bus as they vote to devastate our economy and make working class families worse off.” ### |
