Today, Congressman Jimmy Gomez (D - Los Angeles) issued the following statement in response to President Trump's decision to issue a pardon to convicted former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio:

"President Trump's latest action on Joe Arpaio shows contempt for the Constitution and equal protection under the law. Not only did he pardon Arpaio for his illegal actions but also cited a supposed 'lifetime of public service', as if engaging in racial profiling were an achievement!"
