Today, Congressman Jimmy Gomez (D - Los Angeles) issued the following statement in response to President Trump's directive limiting service by transgender troops in the military:

"Trump continues his pattern of hate and bigotry. There's no justification for banning transgender servicemembers. Defense Secretary Mattis needs to take a stand and protect transgender troops from this hateful act because no qualified American should be denied the opportunity to serve their country!"
