Rep. Jimmy Gomez Votes “NO” on Continuing Resolution
Washington,

At every opportunity, I have made it clear that if the Republican leadership wanted my vote, any spending compromise must protect DREAMers and temporary protected status holders, children’s health insurance, community health centers, and emergency disaster funding.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jimmy Gomez (D – Los Angeles) today issued the following statement after voting against a short-term Continuing Resolution “Today, I voted against a Continuing Resolution because the Republican bill does not represent the values of working families in the state of California and our nation. It’s the fourth short term budget resolution to fund the government since the federal fiscal year began on Oct. 1, 2017. “At every opportunity, I have made it clear that if the Republican leadership wanted my vote, any spending compromise must protect DREAMers and temporary protected status holders, children’s health insurance, community health centers, and emergency disaster funding. Instead, the House GOP keeps punting the ball in hopes that the Senate will bail them out. They have slapped together a partisan bill that illustrates a pointed desire to shut down the government. I urge my Republican colleagues to reach across the aisle and start governing. Our country needs a spending bill that puts working families in Los Angeles, California, and our nation first. This bill does not do that.” ### |
