WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced the opening of a vaccination site at the California State University, Los Angeles campus. The FEMA vaccination site will support the COVID-19 response efforts in Los Angeles County through the deployment of federal personnel and fast distribution of financial assistance and federal equipment. In response to today’s announcement, Congressman Gomez released the following statement:
“The opening of the FEMA vaccination site at Cal State Los Angeles represents a significant milestone in the COVID-19 response for Angelenos in the 34th Congressional District. My district is home to communities of color, immigrant communities, and essential workers on the frontlines of this health emergency who have and continue to bear the brunt of the pandemic. Infection and death rates are disproportionality higher among these communities, but the opening of this federal vaccination site reflects a steadfast commitment from local and federal authorities to prioritize vaccine equity and protect the most vulnerable among us. I’d like to thank the Biden administration for working with my office, as well as local and state officials, to bring this vaccination site to Los Angeles. Together, through the implementation of a robust and equitable vaccine distribution strategy, we can turn the page on this national public health crisis and help working families in California and across the country get back on their feet.”
