President Trump’s budget falls woefully short in meeting the needs of working families.
LOS ANGELES, CA – Congressman Jimmy Gomez (D-34) issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s 2019 budget and infrastructure plans released today.
“President Trump’s budget falls woefully short in meeting the needs of working families. Adding insult to injury, the Trump administration’s budget calls for trillions of dollars in cuts to critical programs like Medicaid, Social Security, and SNAP while somehow finding a way to fund Trump’s reprehensible mass deportation agenda and sink our country further into debt.
“The release of Trump’s infrastructure proposal further underscores the Administration’s lack of vision. At a time when cities and states are looking to the federal government to provide the investment our country desperately needs and deserves, Trump’s infrastructure proposal instead is heavy on the rhetoric and light on critical federal investment to boost local economies and good-paying jobs.
“Working families deserve a prosperous future with federal legislation unlocking the economic potential of every community, and I’ll work tirelessly with my colleagues in Congress to secure a vision of America that does not rob our children blind.”
