WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Congressional Dads Caucus, led by Congressman Jimmy Gomez, released the following statement after Dads Caucus member Ruben Gallego (AZ-03) announced he will take parental leave following the birth of his daughter, Isla: “We’re proud to extend a warm congratulations to Congressman Gallego and his family on the birth of their daughter, Isla. By taking parental leave, Gallego is setting a powerful example and breaking the stigma around dads putting their families first. Unfortunately, that’s not an option for millions of our constituents who are forced to choose between their pay checks and taking care of their children. America is one of the only nations on earth that does not guarantee paid family leave to its working families. The Dads Caucus is committed to fighting for a federal paid family leave policy because we understand that our families’ wellbeing must always come first.” ### |
