Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) released the following statement ahead of his vote for Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House today: “I will vote for Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker of the House on behalf of my son and all the working families who deserve a leader that puts our country over political games. Americans are sick of the hysterical infighting and radical conspiracy theories at the core of Republican leadership. “Republicans have thrown their caucus into chaos time and again, and the American people are paying the price. At a time when rent costs nearly a third of a household’s income and the cost of child care is forcing parents into bankruptcy, we need a Speaker who will show real leadership to unify our nation.
