Four New Members Join the Congressional Dads Caucus

The Dads Caucus grows to 38 members, adding Reps. Panetta, Sherman, Horsford and Kennedy in the fight for family friendly policies

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Reps. Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), Brad Sherman (CA-32),  Steven Horsford (NV-04) and Timothy Kennedy (NY-26) are now members of the Congressional Dads Caucus, a group of 38 parents in Congress who fight for family friendly policies, including affordable child care, paid family leave and the enhanced Child Tax Credit. The caucus is led by Rep. Jimmy Gomez (CA-34).

“I’m proud to welcome four great dads from across the country into our Dads Caucus, growing our membership to 38. Reps. Panetta, Sherman, Horsford and Kennedy have long records of fighting for families, and they will enhance our caucus’ work to uplift parents and children everywhere,” said Rep. Gomez

“The cost of raising a child is on the rise, and dads in Congress and around the country need to step up and advocate for commonsense policies that will set families up for success,” said Rep. Panetta.  “As a proud father of two, I’m looking forward to working alongside the Congressional Dad’s Caucus to advocate for the expansion of the Child Tax Credit, accessible childcare, paid family leave and more. Dads are caregivers, role models, confidants, partners, occasional bad-joke tellers, and need to be active advocates for policies that will give every family a strong foundation.”

“I’m proud to join the mothers and fathers of the Dads Caucus to fight for the needs of hard-working families. In Western New York, family is everything. But too many parents are struggling to put food on the table, often working multiple jobs, while trying to spend quality time with their children. As a parent of three, I know how important it is to meet all our children’s needs. The Dads Caucus champions policies, like expanding the Child Tax Credit, that help moms and dads be there for their children. I look forward to joining my colleagues in making parenthood more accessible and our children’s futures brighter,” said Rep. Kennedy.

“As a proud ‘girl dad’ to three wonderful daughters, I'm pleased to join the Congressional Dads Caucus to help advocate for the issues that impact working parents across the country -- paid leave, an enhanced Child Tax Credit and more,” said Rep. Sherman. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure that this Caucus stands at the forefront of the fight for policies that our families and country need to thrive.”

“The title of 'Dad' is one I’m proud to hold, and I’m joining the Congressional Dads Caucus to work for the needs of all parents,” said Rep. Horsford. “As a father, I’m committed to pushing for policies that ensure every parent has the resources they need to support their children and create a brighter future. Together, we will work towards making paid leave, affordable childcare, and the expanded Child Tax Credit a reality for Nevada families.”

The Congressional Dads Caucus provides a forum for members of Congress to advocate for legislation that supports working families. Caucus members believe in policy solutions that help working families thrive, including paid family and medical leave policies for all, expanding the Child Tax Credit, increasing access to childcare, and supporting family friendly policies that reduce poverty and ease the burden on working parents.
