WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) released the following statement regarding the wildfires in Los Angeles, California:

“I am closely monitoring the fires in Los Angeles County, including the Eaton and Palisades Fires. I’m beyond grateful to the brave firefighters and first responders who are working tirelessly on the frontlines to protect our neighborhoods, including my own neighborhood of Eagle Rock. The mayor's office and Governor Newsom have declared states of emergency, and I thank President Biden for his commitment to act swiftly on a major disaster declaration, which will expedite resources to our region to combat the fires and help affected residents. I urge everyone to be prepared for power outages and follow all evacuation notices.”
