Defense chief Song Young-moo met with five U.S. lawmakers Wednesday afternoon, to discuss ways to maintain close cooperation between Seoul and Washington's Congress. The House of Representative members Ami Bera, Jim Sensenbrenner, Janice Schakowsky, John Faso, and Jimmy Gomez, visited South Korea's defense ministry this afternoon. Part of the bipartisan "Congressional Study Group on Korea", launched back in February, to deepen mutual understanding and legislative exchanges between the two nations. During the meeting, Song urged the group to continue its work. The visitors vowed continued support from the U.S. Congress for the bilateral alliance as well as denuclearization and peace on the Korean peninsula. |
