Rep. Jimmy Gomez Elected Vice-Chair of the Future Forum

Washington, DC – This week, Rep. Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) was elected by his House colleagues to serve as Vice-Chair of the Future Forum, a group of young Democratic Members of the House of Representatives focused on issues and opportunities for younger Americans.

Shortly after the election, Rep. Gomez released the following statement:

“The incoming class of House Democrats is one of the youngest and most diverse in our nation’s history. We share an array of unique perspectives and varied backgrounds, presenting us with an unprecedented opportunity to elevate the priorities and concerns of those who have previously felt excluded from the public discourse. Our gender and racial diversity is a significant source of our strength, and I’m honored to support this new generation of Democratic leaders as they step up and advocate on behalf of all Americans.

“As the new Vice-Chair of the Future Forum, I’ll be working with my colleagues to address the distinctive challenges young people face, empowering them to transform our country in the fight for justice, human rights, affordable education, and economic opportunity for all. Together, with Chair Stephanie Murphy and Chair Emeritus Eric Swalwell, as well as Vice-Chairs Antonio Delgado and Abby Finkenauer, we can help amplify the voices of young Americans and ensure they have a substantive role to play in charting a prosperous and equitable course for our nation.”
