Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Jimmy Gomez (CA-34) announced his appointment by the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee to serve on the Committee on Ways and Means, the chief tax-writing committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.
“The Ways and Means Committee represents the frontline in the battle to protect our social safety net system from Senate Republicans and the Trump administration,” said Rep. Gomez. “This is a fight I’ve aggressively waged since my days as a union organizer and during my tenure in the California State Legislature. I take great pride in continuing this battle on the federal level on this prestigious committee and look forward to working with Chairman Richard Neal in using every tool at our disposal to protect the most vulnerable communities in my district and across the nation.”
