WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Jimmy Gomez (D – Los Angeles) issued the following statement after voting against H. Con. Res. 71, the FY18 Budget Resolution in the House of Representatives: “Republicans showed their commitment to the Trump agenda by passing a budget that would hurt America’s working families. The budget resolution to allow a fast-track vote on tax reform destroys middle class jobs, steals from Medicare and Medicaid, and devastates our education system just to give billionaires yet another tax break. I cannot stand for such a partisan tax proposal that would hurt working families and effectively subject my constituents to a double tax, while adding $1.5 trillion to the deficit. Republicans should stop putting corporations over people and work with Democrats to pass laws that restore health insurance for children, control the rising costs of Americans’ health premiums, and pass the DREAM Act.” ### |
