Congressional Dads Caucus Hosts Father's Day Week of Action Congressional Briefing on Caregiving, Fatherhood, and Family Policy

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Congressional Dads Caucus joined Equimundo at the Library of Congress for a Congressional Briefing as part of this year's Father's Day Week of Action, highlighting the challenges facing parents and the importance of building a country where families have the support they need.

The briefing centered on a simple reality: raising a family has become harder, even as parents continue doing everything they can to care for their children and loved ones. Speakers discussed the ways fatherhood changes people's lives and the role public policy can play in helping parents succeed.

Rep. Joaquin Castro joined the briefing to discuss the work of the Congressional Dads Caucus and its commitment to making life easier for working families. The program also featured Equimundo President and CEO Gary Barker, The Dads Foundation Founder Stephen Chukumba, and Parents Together's Adam Ukman in a discussion moderated by Jerome Hunter. Together, they shared perspectives on fatherhood, the value of care, and what it will take to ensure families are not left to shoulder these challenges alone.

Participants also heard findings from Equimundo's latest research showing that caring for family remains one of the most meaningful parts of people's lives, even as many parents struggle to find the time and support they need.

“Today's briefing highlighted both the challenges families face and the opportunities we have to better support parents through public policy,” said Dads Caucus founder and chair Jimmy Gomez. “As we mark our fourth Father's Day Week of Action, we're recommitting ourselves to building a country where every parent has the support they need to raise a family and every child has the opportunity to thrive.”

The Congressional Dads Caucus remains committed to advancing policies that strengthen families and give parents the tools they need to build a better future for their children and loved ones.
