Health Care Affordability Act

This legislation, which is co-led by Reps. Gomez, Underwood, and O'Halleran, would lower health insurance premiums and out-of-pocket costs by making tax credits for Health Insurance Marketplace plans more generous and available to more Americans. A version of this bill was included in the American Rescue Plan Act and signed into law on March 22, 2021.

H.R. 244: 
Executive Branch Conflict of Interest Act

This legislation reduces the influence of industry lobbyists on senior government officials and addresses the revolving door between lobbying firms and the government by strengthening and enhancing ethics requirements for federal employees. This bill was included in H.R. 1, the For the People Act and passed the House of Representatives on March 3, 2021.

This legislation would grant testimonial subpoena authority to federal Inspectors General. This bill was included in H.R. 2662, the IG Independence and Empowerment Act and passed the House of Representatives on June 29, 2021.

H.R. 2662: 
IG Independence and Empowerment Act

This legislation, which is co-led by Rep. Gomez and colleagues on the Oversight Committee, would increase the independence of inspectors general and protect them from any political retaliation. This bill passed the House of Representatives on June 29, 2021.

H.R. 2924: Transit to Trails Act

This legislation creates a grant program at the Department of Transportation (DOT) to fund projects that make transportation to green spaces and public lands and waters more accessible for critically underserved communities. A version of this bill is included in the landmark Environmental Justice for All Act introduced by Chair Raúl M. Grijalva (AZ-03) and Congressman A. Donald McEachin (VA-04), and it passed the House on July 1, 2021 as part of the INVEST in America Act.

H.R. 3822: ASSET Act

This legislation would eliminate federal asset limits set on eligibility for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and would raise the federal asset limit for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) eligibility.
